What is the Southern Foodways Symposium?

It’s that time of year when SFA World Headquarters is buzzing with preparations for our annual Southern Foodways Symposium.

Potential attendees are preparing, too, checking their membership status, checking out the lineup, checking and re-checking to make sure they know exactly what time tickets go on sale (it’s Thursday, August 6 at noon central).

But if you’ve never been to a Southern Foodways Symposium, you very well might be wondering what all the hype is about. What exactly is this symposium, and why does everyone get so pumped about it?
