Third Annual Tomato Dinner by Elizabeth Heiskell Sold Out, RSVP for 2017

Third annual Mid-Summer Tomato Dinner, hosted by chef Elizabeth Heiskell at Woodson Ridge Farms, has sold out for this year.

The event is sold out for this Friday, July 15, 2016.

This annual event has grown in popularity in the past three years. Oxford’s talented chef who has appeared several times on NBC’s TODAY Show, Elizabeth Heiskell recommends that people should RSVP for next year in advance to participate in this delicious, can’t-miss annual dinner.

This year, profits from the annual dinner will go to The Jamaican Education Fund which will benefit Heiskell’s daughter, Stott Heiskell.

Heiskell said, “The Jamaican Education Fund is a fundraiser that my daughter’s school in Chattanooga (Baylor School) would have to send 10 students to a mission trip to Jamaica. This dinner benefits an orphanage that Baylor has built. Each year, Baylor raises $50,000 to fund this school for the upcoming year. The Baylor students are responsible for this orphanage, and my daughter has been working really hard on this dinner so the proceeds will go to the Jamaican Education Fund.”

According to Baylor’s website, students raised a total of $64,000. This year, Woodson Ridge Farms sold tickets at $50 per person with $400 for a table of eight guests.

Heiskell has an extensive and delectable menu planned for the annual dinner this Friday at Woodson Ridge Farms.

Plates that will be passed around at tables will be gazpacho in cucumber cups and open-faced BLTs with basil mayonnaise.

The main buffet will feature Delores’ catfish; angel hair pasta nest with heirloom tomatoes topped with fresh basil and shaved parmesan; marinated gulf shrimp with cherry tomatoes, artichoke hearts and herbs; stewed tomatoes and okra over Mississippi Bleu rice grits; heirloom tomato salad with pistachios, goat cheese and balsamic; and of course fried tomatoes with assorted bread. A traditional tomato pie will also be served.

For dessert, the attendees will enjoy a tomato cobbler with Sweet Magnolia’s Lemon Basil Gelato. The attendees are welcome to bring their own beverages to enjoy to music from Kelley and Jesse Pinion.
