Taylor Grocery is one of Mississippi’s best spots for fried catfish and all of the classic southern-style home cooking that you can think of. On any given night, the restaurant will be filled with people from all over Mississippi who came to check out the famous eatery. The word got out, and the Food Network decided to make their way to the town of Taylor, Mississippi to check out what all the fuss was about.
Hosts Demaris Philips and Rutledge Wood were in town yesterday filming their new show “Super Southern Eats” and couldn’t help but stop in when they saw owner, Lynn Hewlett on the porch playing a dobro with fried catfish signs out front.
“What a beautiful town, what a great restaurant and we can’t wait to share it with the world,” Rutledge said.
The Food Network film crews also made a stop at the Oxford location of Neon Pig while they were in the area. Neon Pig opened their doors in Oxford after the success of their Tupelo location. The restaurant and butcher shop’s “Smash Burger” was named “Best Burger in America” by Thrillist.com in 2015.
Phillips and Wood got to see how the restaurant prepares dishes with locally sourced ingredients as they assembled their burgers, charcuterie and watched as they masterfully butcher their own meats.
“Super Southern Eats” premiered on July 22. While no date has been set for the episode featuring the Taylor Grocery and Neon Pig, keep an eye out for an announcement. HottyToddy.com will update this story as soon as we know when the episode will air.
