Rib Cage Remains a Staple on the Square 13 Years After Opening
Rib Cage on the Oxford Square has become a legendary restaurant among students and locals. Operating since June 2003, Rib Cage is famous for their barbeque and quesadillas. They make their own sauce and dry rub (a blend of 10 secret spices) and cook everything in house.
Buck Walden, owner of Rib Cage, said he’s very proud of the restaurant’s 13-year success, and putting out great product. “It’s neat to see people figuring out that Rib Cage is a great place to go. We’ve been here for 13 years, and good lord willing, plan to be here as long as we can.”
Rib Cage offers tailgating and catering orders. The restaurant can also be rented out for private parties.
“We were up here at 4:30 a.m. cooking before the Fresno State Game,” Walden said. “We do an average of 40-60 orders during Ole Miss home games. We also do a lot of catering for the athletic departments (like team meals).” Rib Cage does to-go orders and delivers through Landshark Delivery service.
The menu also features hot wings, ribs, slaw, baked beans, potato salad, pulled bbq platter, various salads, ham and turkey melts, hot wing nachos, tenderloin platter, slaw dogs and much more.
Rib Cage has an app for smart phones that can be downloaded now, but the new and improved app is launching Oct.1. It will offer discounts, coupons and some other fun things.
“Our food might not be locally grown, but it is good,” Walden said.
Rib Cage is located at 311 South Lamar, and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., and on Sundays open from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
You can follow Rib Cage on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The Rib Cage app can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
