One of the hottest spots to be during a Tuscaloosa gameday weekend is the Strip on University Boulevard.

The Strip is Tuscaloosa’s version of Oxford’s Square!  The following restaurants and bars should not be missed:

The number one restaurant to visit in Tuscaloosa according to Tripadvisor is The Avenue Pub. Located at 405 23rd, the Avenue Pub is Famous for its cheeseburger and Saturday and Sunday morning brunch. “We have created a unique, but casual dining experience, which offers fresh food and beverages, local craft beers, and local entertainment,” according to The Avenue Pub website.

Houndstooth Sports Bar has been voted number one College Sports Bar by Sports Illustrated on Campus, Best College Sports Bar by Playboy Magazine, and One of America’s Best College Bars by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Located two blocks from Bryant-Denny Stadium at 1300 University Boulevard on The Strip, The Houndstooth has 36 high definition flat screens, one of the largest outdoor patios in the state of Alabama, and even TV’s in the bathroom so you won’t miss a minute of the game.

For fans interested in “farm-to-table style” food, Epiphany Café, located at 519 Greensboro Avenue, takes all of their food from local farms, and has a gourmet flair. Epiphany takes reservations and is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday. Offering dishes like smoked beets, Copper River King Salmon sashimi, and goat cheese and buttermilk pudding, the menu also has gluten free options.

Gallettes, also on the Strip, features a wildly popular signature drink called the “Yellowhammer.” The bar can sell up 5,000 Yellowhammers on a weekend night alone, and it comes in a yellow plastic cup. Located on 1021 University Blvd., Gallettes is known for being hidden, as the entrance is a small red door next to Campus Party Store. It isn’t a surprise to see revelers at Gallettes until 2 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Full Moon’s famous cookies (fullmoonbbq.com)

Full Moon BBQ is famous for their vinaigrette slaw and Half Moon cookies, which are both featured in “100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before you Die.” Taste of the South Magazine considers Half Moon Cookies one of the best handmade cookies delivered to your door. Huffington Post also voted Full Moon one of the “Top Ten BBQ Restaurants in the U.S.”Full Moon is located at 1434 McFarland Blvd. East and is open for lunch and dinner.
