New Restaurant Grit Set to Open This May in Taylor, Mississippi
Angie Sicurezza and Nick Reppond are veterans of the Oxford restaurant scene.
Having cooked and run restaurants for others in Oxford and around the country, they became entrepreneurs in 2015 when they launched their own company A&N Catering. The first year was a tremendous success by any measure. Now they are kicking it up another level entirely with the announcement of their first restaurant to be called Grit.
Grit will be located in the Plein Air neighborhood in Taylor. Sicurezza describes it as “sophisticated southern cuisine.”
The 55-seat restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner and brunch on Sundays. Grit’s menu will change seasonally and will feature locally sourced ingredients.
“It’s going to be sophisticated, yet comfortable. That is very important to us” Reppond said.
As to why Taylor and not somewhere on the Square, Sicurezza said, “We live in Taylor. Taylor is really growing as Lafayette County expands and we want to be a part of that. And there is some really cool stuff going on at Plein Air right now. It just makes sense.”
Prior to forming A&N Catering, Reppond had been a cook at City Grocery, Big Bad Beakfast, SnackBar, and Lamar Lounge at various times. He has been recognized regionally for his culinary skills and tapped as a rising star in culinary circles. Sicurezza also has a long history in the restaurant industry, most recently as Director of Operations for the City Grocery Restaurant group.
Target opening date is May 1, 2016.
