Big Bad Pop-ups Conclude with 132-Foot Journey of Corbin Evans
Pop in to City Grocery for the fourth and final installment of Big Bad Pop-Ups: The 132-foot Journey. Tonight and tomorrow night, City Grocery will be lending its kitchen to one last guest, Corbin Evans- owner and chef of Oxford Canteen.
If you love the food at Oxford Canteen, bring your appetite. Evans is preparing a variety of things from his menu, including “dirty” grains and curried rice noodles with sweet potato.
For the pop-up, however, Evans is shaking things up a bit. The menu for the event will include entrées like creole mustard catfish fingers and black eyed brown butter gravy cheese fries.
The event is first come, first serve- so there will be no reservations. Elizabeth Tettleton of The Main Event said, “It starts at 6 and ends whenever everyone goes home or we run out of food — whichever comes first.”
If you can’t get enough of Evans’ food after tonight, Oxford Canteen is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
